Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of December 2, 2002 - Page 2By Vangie Beal December 3, 2002This week we find SDRAM prices as much of a "yawner" as it was last week. The positive side to this of course is that we have only a single $2 price increase on PC133 CAS2 256-MB, but the price drops are short and sweet as well. PC100 CAS3 128-MB is down $4 to $18 and PC100 CAS3 256-MB is down $3 to $36. Those, my friends, are the big drops for this week! DDR prices aren't moving too much this week, but two notable exceptions have gone down by quite a bit more than what we saw with SDRAM. Those looking for a better deal on 512-MB upgrades, will be pleased with PC2700 512-MB dropping by $11 to $116 and PC2100 512-MB going down by $9 to $106 this week. In just two weeks the price of PC2100 512-MB has dropped by $19 in total. This is good news indeed, and hopefully we'll see a bit more of this kind of price changes in next week's guide. While RDRAM is usually the slowest moving of the bunch, we do see a few small price drops that make upgrading a bit more promising. PC1066 512-MB memory is down by $9 (232 PIN) and $7 (184 PIN). The only other price change in this category is a slight $2 drop on PC800 ECC 256-MB, which is now going for $97. While consumers aren't saving a whole lot of money on memory at the moment, we do see many on-line vendors competing for your "holiday dollars" by offering special deals on shipping within the US. This week several vendors offering $0.09-$0.88 Flat Fee shipping deals. Some vendors require a UPS shipping code number to get this deal, but their "coupon code" is prominently displayed in their shipping info. Others require no code for this shipping offer, and still some vendors are giving in and providing free ground shipping. While this doesn't really affect actual memory prices listed in our guide, in the end this still destined to save you money - which is always a good thing.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
