Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of December 9, 2002 - Page 2By Vangie Beal December 10, 2002This week we're looking at fluctuating prices on SDRAM memory. Although the prices aren't changing drastically, we are seeing both ups and downs in the guide. Plus or minus $1 changes were quite frequent, broken up by $5 increases on PC133 CAS3 512-MB and PC133 ECC 512-MB. PC100 CAS3 256-MB went down $8 to $28 this week, making it the biggest SDRAM price change overall. Unlike most weeks, overall DIMM prices are dropping; especially on PC2700 and PC3200. PC2700 512-MB is down $7 to $109, PC3200 256-MB dropped $6 to $65, and PC3200 512-MB is at $142, down $5 from last week's charted price. PC2100 modules also dropped in price, ranging from $3 to $6, while PC2400 DIMMs remain unchanged in price. While we see both positive and negative price changes on RDRAM, the decreases outweigh the gains. The only listing to go up in price is PC800 512-MB (+$7), while PC800 ECC 256-MB took a nice $9 price drop and now sits at $88.00. We also see a couple $1 and $3 price drops as well. This is a good week to make a memory purchase, since we only have three slight price increases listed, compared to a much higher number of price decreases. With Christmas still a few weeks away, we already find several vendors dropping their short-lived, free shipping sprees. A few are still offering this option, but not nearly as many as last week. Hopefully if you held off another week before purchasing that memory upgrade you're able to save a few dollars. If not, start crossing your fingers now in the hopes that Santa found a lot more memory bargains than we did this week! Until next week, happy upgrading and please remember to verify prices on the vendor's website should you decide now is the time to buy.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
