Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of January 6, 2003 - Page 2By Vangie Beal January 7, 2003SDRAM enters the New Year on a bit of an upswing. We had a couple $1 and $3 price increases, along with PC100 CAS3 256-MB and PC133 CAS3 512-MB which both went up by $5. Sadly there isn't a price drop to be had in this week's SDRAM price list, but thankfully the increases aren't too steep. Following the downward spiral that started a few weeks back, we once again see more price drops on DDR SDRAM this week. PC2100 256-MB is down $3 to $42, while PC2100 512-MB dropped a nice $5 to land at $89. Along with the afore mentioned drops we have a few more decreases in the $2 to $5 range, along with some (like PC2400 across the board) that haven't changed in price over the past week. This week, the $6 drop on PC1066 256-MB (232 pin) was a bit of a surprise as PC1066 hasn't really been changing much at all, especially the newer variety. The other RDRAM shocker was the $13 increase on PC800 ECC 128-MB, now at $53. Short of those two changes, RDRAM remains the usual 'sleeper' of a listing, showing very few changes. Much to our chagrin, overall SDRAM prices are on the rise. Last week we saw a few modules here go up in price, but not enough to forewarn of major increases for this week. Over time we've been watching DDR prices come down, but here we are seeing a bit more stability this week. We still have some price drops in this category but these remain rather small compared to previous weeks. While some prices are up this week, let us not forget we do see a couple savings in the guide... and who knows, maybe next week we'll see SDRAM and RDRAM join the DDR trends.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
