Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of January 20, 2003 - Page 2By Vangie Beal January 21, 2003The SDRAM modules showing any change this week, are unfortunately gaining in price. While several remain at a zero price change, a few show $1 and $3 price increases. PC133 ECC 128-MB is up $4 to $34, while PC133 ECC 512-MB can be found for $78, which is a $12 increase over last week. Suffice to say, SDRAM prices are on the rise again this week. DDR memory is heading in a totally opposite direction and we're finding several price drops across the board. PC2100 modules are down $2 and $3, yet PC2400 shows no change at all. The bigger savings for consumers comes in on PC2700, where prices are down ranging from $1 to $6. The $6 drop was on PC2700 512-MB, which is now at an even $90. RDRAM is also down a bit this week, but most prices are unchanged from our last guide. Standard PC800 experienced no change in price at all, while the ECC flavor shows a single drop, that being a $4 cut on PC800 ECC 512-MB (now at $222). The PC1066 256-MB modules went down by $1 and $2, bringing the prices on both 232 and 184 pin varieties to $92. And there you have it. Overall SDRAM prices are up, DDR SDRAM is down a bit, and RDRAM (as usual) isn't changing much in either direction. Since memory prices can go up and down on a seemingly daily basis, we suggest you confirm pricing before buying. Many vendors also state that their price is specifically for a phone order, while others offer the lowest prices on online orders, so do your research on specific sellers. Until next week, happy upgrading - and hopefully you managed to save a couple dollars if you held off buying until this week.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
