Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of January 27, 2003 - Page 2By Vangie Beal January 28, 2003This week we see a few slight price drops on PC100 modules, while several PC133 listings are up in price. PC100 CAS2 128-MB dropped $6 to $20 and we have a couple $1 and $2 drops on PC100 as well. PC133 CAS2 256-MB rose $11 to $50 and PC133 CAS3 512-MB is up $7 to $75. The most notable price change is the $12 increase on PC150 512-MB which jumped $12 to $89 this week. While we did have more increases in our last edition, we did see more significant price spikes this week. Overall DDR memory prices are still on their way down. PC2400 modules didn't change at all (for the second week in a row), but PC 2100, PC2700, and PC3200 all dropped in price; ranging from $2 to $11 decreases. The deeper price cuts only affected a few modules; PC2700 512-MB is down $11 to $79 while the price of PC3200 512-MB dropped $10 to $105. This is good news for those looking to purchase DDR this week. PC800 is up and down again this week, but we are seeing more on the downside, especially with the nice $12 drop on PC800 512-MB. PC1066 256-MB is also down this week as 232-pin modules dropped down to $90 while the 184 pin variety decreased $5 to $87. The word stability doesn't have much meaning in the world of memory right now. Prices are constantly shifting, and what we'll see next week is anybody's guess! It would seem that a few 'vendor wars' kicked in over the past week, especially on PC2700. The very popular PC2700 512-MB is actually selling for $79 at a huge number of online vendors right now. DDR prices in many instances have really come down, making purchases a little more appealing right now. Hopefully if you held off til this week before purchasing that memory upgrade you're able to save a few dollars. Until next time, happy upgrading and please remember to verify prices on the vendor's website before you buy.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
