Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of February 10, 2003 - Page 2By Vangie Beal February 11, 2003SDRAM prices are slow movers this week, as all price fluctuations are in the range of $1 to $3. Many of the modules showing the slight price decreases are likely the event of vendor competition, and weekly readers will most likely notice a few vendors names have been replaced by those able to offer SDRAM at a lower price, slight as it may be. The biggest SDRAM price increase charted this week was a $1 increase; which is better than last week's +$4 price change. Favoring the number 1, all the PC2100 modules dropped in price by a cool buck, but PC2700 comes through with some better deals. PC2700 128-MB is down $5 to $25 while both PC2700 256-MB and 512-MB have dropped in price by $8. To top off the good news, none of the DDR SDRAM modules we chart have gone up in price this week. Last week we saw a few noticeable price increases, but this week RDRAM prices are back to their standard pattern. PC800 256-MB is down $4 to $26, PC800 ECC 256-MB went up $2, and PC1066 didn't budge. I'm sure we all remember a time when RDRAM was so expensive that it was but a dream for many, but while it may seem that prices aren't dropping much right now, long-term RDRAM pricing continues to become more attractive. Consumers looking to upgrade memory this week won't be saving a whole lot, but on the other hand no one will be forking out much more if you chose to wait an extra week before making the upgrade. The only constant we continue to report is the steadily declining price of DDR, but even this shows signs of slowing down. So until next week, happy upgrading and remember to verify memory price, shipping fees, and return policy from your online vendor of choice before ordering.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
