Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of February 24, 2003 - Page 2By SharkyExtreme.com Staff February 26, 2003This week's SDRAM prices are staying pretty stable in the area of PC100, with only a few price changes to report. PC133 is more interesting, with quite a few modules decreasing in price. Many of these represent a backslide from the price spikes of two months ago, and are likely in response to lower-cost DDR. Even now, 512-MB of PC133 is more expensive than the same amount of PC2700 DDR. The DDR prices continue to drop, with the largest one hitting PC2400 512-MB. Still, this is a spurious choice with PC2700 being so economical, so it's probably still got some falling to do. The majority of PC2100, PC2700 and PC3200 modules dropped between $3 and $9 a piece, and $80 for a 512-MB stick of 400 MHz DDR is looking mighty fine. The same goes for the $60 PC2700 512-MB price, and it's certainly a great time for DDR upgrades. Other than one major price break, it's another stable week for RDRAM. The $13 price cut to PC800 512-MB seems to be more of a special deal, so those interested should act fast. Over the past few months, we've seen DDR prices continue to drop and we're now at a point where even PC3200 is looking like an excellent deal. PC133 prices also started coming back to reality, while RDRAM continues to move to the beat of a different drummer. Remember that memory prices are cyclical so don't wait too long before putting in the DDR buy order. So until next week, happy upgrading and please remember to verify prices on the vendor's website should you decide now is the time to buy.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
