Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of March 3, 2003 - Page 2By Vangie Beal March 4, 2003"In like a lamb" pretty well describes our initial March SDRAM prices. Overall, things stayed pretty tame, as we see only a few price fluctuations for the first week of March. PC100 CAS2 ECC 128-MB managed to go up in price by $7, but countering that we also have a $7 price drop on PC133 ECC 512-MB, which now sits at $71. PC100 CAS2 ECC 256-MB also rose by $3, and that's it for SDRAM price increases for the week. On the flip side we see several other price drops ranging from $1 to $4. DDR prices are still dropping somewhat, as this week we have a $4 decrease on PC2100 256-MB and another $3 savings on PC2100 512-MB. The best deal for the week comes in on PC2700 512-MB which is down $5 to $55 this week. Over the past four week period we're looking at a total $24 price drop on PC2700 512-MB. With DDR having come down in price over the past little while, memory upgrades are looking like a pretty good deal right now. RDRAM, which is moving as slow as it usual, brings us only two small $1 price increases. While it would be nice to see consistent price, there is certainly something to be said for stable memory prices, especially with the sometimes-volatile RDRAM. For the most part, this week's memory prices are quite stable, though we have a couple of nice price drops to consider, especially on PC2700 512-MB. Until next week, happy upgrading and please remember to verify prices on the vendor's website should you decide now is the time to buy.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
