Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of March 24, 2003 - Page 2By Vangie Beal March 25, 2003SDRAMSDRAM prices remain pretty constant this week although we do see the occasional $1 to $3 price drop. PC100 CAS3 128-MB is down another $3 this week to $20, while PC100 CAS3 128-MB and PC133 ECC 128-MB are amongst those down by $2. While SDRAM price drops are few and far between, the good news is that we don't see any price increases on SDRAM modules this week. The price on PC2100 512-MB has dropped a bit this week again, and while it's only down another $3, its current $40 price tag is looking mighty tempting. The big drop and surprise of the week comes in on PC3200 512-MB which is down $6 to an even $70. Several other modules dropped by $1 to $2 in price, and this week we don't have a single price increase on DDR SDRAM memory. In the month of March, we've seen as much movement on RDRAM prices as we have all year. Once again the decreases are slight, but we do see a nice $6 price drop on PC1066 256-MB (184 pin) which brings it down to $82. The 232-pin variety represents the only price increase in our guide for the week, and it is up by only a buck. The small, but very consistent, DDR SDRAM price drops have added up over the past few weeks and are a very appealing upgrade at the present time. For those of you who held off on a possible PC2100 512-MB purchase last week, you won't be disappointed as this module to watch has dropped another few dollars this week. This week our guide was full of small price drops and only a single $1 increase on PC1066 256-MB (232 pin). Remember that memory prices are cyclical, so don't wait too long before putting in the DDR buy order. So until next week, happy upgrading and please remember to verify prices on the vendor's website before making the purchase.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
