Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of March 31, 2003 - Page 2By Vangie Beal April 1, 2003SDRAMSDRAM prices are showing little change over last week's prices. In PC100 modules, we see PC100 CAS3 256-MB is up by a mere $1 and PC100 CAS3 128-MB is up $4 to $24. Those two increases were the only changes on PC100 for the week. All the PC133 and PC150 modules we list reflect no price change at all, which of course could be seen as good news. After weeks of consistent price decreases, PC2100 512-MB has remained at a price of $40 for this week. In fact, all of the DDR SDRAM prices reflect very little changes overall. We have a couple $1 and $2 price drops along with a $4 drop on PC2100 256-MB, which is now at $16. The only higher DDR price is a single $1 increase on PC3200 256-MB. RDRAM is showing a few unexpected price changes this week, as we don't usually see a shift of more than a couple dollars on RIMMs. This week we find an extra $4 tacked onto the price of PC1066 256-MB (184-pin), while the price on the 232-pin variety is down $6 to $82. Other RDRAM price fluctuations only reflect a slight $1-$2 change. While PC2100 512-MB didn't continue on its downward spiral, we certainly can't find a single thing to complain about concerning its $40 price tag. Price changes across the board were stingy at best, but in retrospect the lower prices on DDR SDRAM has been the only real highlight for the last few weeks, and SDRAM and RDRAM prices are, as usual, staying pretty constant. Consumers looking to upgrade memory this week won't be saving a whole lot, but on the other hand you won't be forking out much more by choosing to wait until this week before making the upgrade.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
