Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of April 7, 2003 - Page 2By Vangie Beal April 8, 2003SDRAMThis week, the SDRAM price changes are more up than down. PC100 CAS3 256-MB did drop $4, and a few others also showed a decrease, but only in the range of $1 to $2. On the rise this week is PC133 CAS2 256-MB, which is up by $3, and PC150 128-MB climbed $5 to $29 this week. PC133 CAS3 512-MB also rose to $4, and a few others hit the $1 price increase level as well. This week's DDR SDRAM prices are quite the mixed bag of goodies. PC2100 and PC2700 512-MB modules gained $7 in price, while PC2100 128-MB is up $4 to $14. PC3200 256-MB bucked the trend, and fell $4 to sit at $35. After so many weeks of dropping DDR SDRAM prices, it's quite disheartening to see so many modules going up in price, although we can be thankful that most are only very small increases. RIMM prices remained consistent with the rest of this week's guide, showing both increases and decreases. Those in the market for PC800 256-MB or even PC1066 256-MB will save a couple dollars this week, but if you had been looking at PC800 ECC 256-MB, then you'll need to shell out an extra $4. While we certainly enjoyed a nice long run of declining memory prices, it's no surprise to finally see many modules head upwards by a few dollars here and there. In some ways, previous DDR memory prices were almost too good to be true, and increasing prices may be an ongoing trend. Remember that memory prices are cyclical so don't wait too long before putting in the DDR buy order. So until next week, happy upgrading and please remember to verify prices on the vendor's website should you decide now is the time to buy.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
