Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of April 14, 2003 - Page 2By Vangie Beal April 15, 2003SDRAMThis week's SDRAM prices show only a few changes, but they go beyond the $1 and $2 fluctuations we've become accustomed to. We do see a couple of small price changes, but also some more substantial $5 increases on PC133 ECC 256-MB and PC133 CAS3 256-MB. The only decent price drop this week is the $7 cut to PC133 ECC 512-MB, which can now be purchased for $66. This week there is really no pattern in the price changes between PC100 and PC133, and no consistent drops on high or low-end modules either. This pretty much leaves us in the dark in terms of being able to offer any sort of prediction for future SDRAM trends. It's nice to see so many zeros and negative signs in the DDR "change" column this week. Last week's prices were up from the previous week, but now we have only two $1 price drops within the PC2100 modules, and four separate $3 price drops mixed in for good measure. Overall, these changes aren't drastic by any means, but we do see a steady lowering of prices on DDR memory. This week's price list doesn't show a single increase on RIMMs, and the price drops we do have are small, but still welcomed of course. PC800 ECC 128-MB is down $3 to $41 this week, while PC800 64-MB dropped $2 to $19. We can't really complain too much about this week's memory prices. A few modules are up in price, but again, its nothing too drastic. After seeing DDR SDRAM prices go up a bit last week it's a relief to see that it haven't continued in an upward trend. This leaves a DDR upgrade as a very attractive choice at present time. Please remember to confirm the current price before making any purchase. Memory prices are volatile and while our weekly guide does illustrate overall trends, the actual dollar price could shift up or down quite quickly. And don't forget to take into account the vendors shipping policy and fees guide before buying online. So until next week, happy upgrading.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
