Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of April 21, 2003 - Page 2By Vangie Beal April 22, 2003SDRAMThis week our guide starts off with slight increases on PC100 modules, countered by similar decreases on PC133 memory. On the rise this week is PC100 CAS2 128-MB which is up $2 to $19 and PC100 CAS2 256-MB, which rose $3 to $46. We also see a nice $5 savings on PC133 ECC 128-MB which is down to $24. Mixed in with those changes is the usual plethora of smaller $1 or $2 price changes. Don't you just love seeing those negative signs in the DDR SDRAM listings. Those looking for PC2100 128-MB this week will be pleased to see it has dropped down to $10 this week; a savings of $5 over last week's lowest price. PC3200 is down a bit as well, with a nice $6 drop on PC3200 512-MB, which is now at $61. One of the bigger increases here this week is on PC2400 256-MB which is up $4 to $69. RDRAM prices, are for the most part, as stable as they have ever been. The main price change here is a $13 drop on PC800 512-MB, and it comes in at an even $180. The only other price change on RIMMs this week is a $3 increase on PC800 256-MB, now at $70. Overall memory prices aren't moving too drastically in either direction at present, but depending on your personal upgrade needs this could be a week for a nice savings - or a week where you might shell out a couple extra dollars for your purchase. Once again overall DDR SDRAM prices are moving in the consumer's favor, with PC3200 prices being a rather nice surprise. On an interesting side note, that PC3200 512-MB modules that you'll pay around $61 for this week was first added to our price guide in September 2002. At that time you could expect to see a price tag of $153. So until next week, happy upgrading and please remember to verify prices on the vendor's website should you decide now is the time to buy.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
