Memory Pricing Guide |
Weekly Memory Prices - Week of April 28, 2003 - Page 2By Vangie Beal April 29, 2003SDRAMThis week's SDRAM prices start off with a nice $8 drop on PC100 CAS2 256-MB, bringing it down to $38. In addition, we see a few small $1 and $2 drops mixed in on both PC100 and PC133 modules. The only SDRAM price increases we have for the week are three smaller $1 changes. Suffice to say, SDRAM prices are not changing all that much. Judging by this week's DDR SDRAM prices, if you didn't make that upgrade after reading through the last Memory Price Guide, waiting an extra seven days won't have saved you much. The DRR prices which have come down, only dropped between $1 and $3, like PC2700 128-MB and PC3200 256-MB (both down by $3). The only DDR SDRAM price increase is on PC3200 512-MB which is up $3 to $64. RDRAM prices remain steady save for the lower price on PC800 512-MB. This week we located PC800 512-MB at a different vendor for $165, which is $15 less than we had listed it at last week. Other price changes reflected here consist of smaller $1 and $2 price changes in both directions. Overall, there aren't a whole lot of price cuts going on at present time, but we're also pleased to report very few price increases as well. DDR SDRAM is still a very affordable upgrade for the time being, while RDRAM prices are as slow as ever in coming down. The price increase to PC3200 512-MB might set off some alarms, especially with Intel releasing the dual-DDR400 i875P two weeks ago. Until next week, happy upgrading and please remember to verify prices on the vendor's website should you decide now is the time to buy.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
