Weekly Memory Prices - Week of May 19, 2003 - Page 2By Vangie Beal May 20, 2003SDRAMMuch like last week's SDRAM listings, this week we see very little change in overall prices. PC100 reflects only a few changes, including a slight $2 jump on PC100 CAS3 256-MB and a $4 drop on PC100 CAS2 256-MB. Overall PC133 prices are quite the disappointment as well, with only two $1 drops and a $2 drop on PC133 CAS2 256-MB to report. In terms of price increases we see that PC133 ECC 512-MB is up $5 to $69. This week we also have PC150 512-MB up $24 to $114. In this particular instance, it would seem that the vendor we have listed in the past is no longer stocking PC150 modules and reputable vendors offering PC150 are getting scarce online. We'll keep our eyes open and hopefully be able to report a lower price in next week's guide. DDR SDRAM prices have really settled down late, and in recent weeks we see only very slight drops and gains. Down $1 this week are PC2100 512-MB and PC3200 512-MB. We also have a single price gain of $1, and a $2 increase on PC2700 256-MB. Despite the sedate DDR SDRAM prices, it's still a great value and an attractive choice for system upgrades. Following suit, RDRAM prices aren't fluctuating much in either direction. Again this week we have only a couple changes; the first is a tiny $1 drop on PC800 256-MB, and the second is a $3 drop on PC800 ECC 128-MB. Predictable prices are certainly a positive thing when it comes to computer memory, especially with historically low DDR prices. If you held of making that upgrade until this week, you really didn't miss out on much, as prices seem to be going through a bit of a dormant period. Despite the limited price changes, keep in mind that that memory prices are cyclical so don't wait too long before putting in the DDR buy order, especially of the PC3200 variety. So until next week, happy upgrading and please remember to verify prices on the vendor's website should you decide now is the time to buy.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
