Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of June 9, 2003 - Page 2By Vangie Beal June 10, 2003SDRAMWhile our last guide showed only slight price changes in SDRAM modules, this week we see a multitude of differences, but unfortunately it's not all good news for the consumer. PC100 prices remain fair and shows a nice $8 price drop on PC100 CAS2 ECC 128-MB, which is down to $31. Up $2 to $20 we have PC100 CAS2 128-MB, and the only other PC100 price change is a slight $1 increase on PC100 CAS3 128-MB. PC133 prices are a different story this week, as we see a few larger price fluctuations, both positive and negative. PC133 CAS3 256-MB dropped by a couple dollars, while PC133 CAS2 128-MB and 256-MB both dropped by $3. In terms of price increases, the jumps are certainly higher than the cuts. PC133 CAS3 128-MB is up $13 to $34 while both PC133 CAS3 512-MB and PC133 CAS2 64-MB increased by $5 each this week. Overall SDRAM prices reflect many prices changes this week with a fair number of those being increases. Much like our previous listing, DDR SDRAM modules are again on the rise. The price of PC2100 512-MB is up $6 to $44 - which is over and above our last guide, which had a $5 increase here as well. Up $8 this week is PC2700 512-MB, and it's now at $49. We also have a $4 increase on the price of PC3200 256-MB. Our only DDR price drop is on PC3200 512-MB which went down only $1. While it would be nice to say we've saved the best for last, this simply isn't the case with RIMM prices this week. Unfortunately we're seeing additional price increases here as well. While many increases in this section are of the smaller $1 and $2 variety, we do see a jump of $3 on PC800 ECC 256-MB and PC800 512-MB rose up $4 to $169. By far the price increases outweigh the drops on RDRAM this week. Overall memory prices from PC100 to PC2700 and everything in between are showing price increases for the most part. The best buy for the week would have to be on PC3200 512-MB, which was the only DDR module to drop in price, and now sits at an attractive $62. If you're in the market for most other memory upgrades you just may find yourself having to shell out a few extra dollars this week. As always, please take the time to verify the latest price on any vendor's website as well as the information they provide on shipping and handling charges. So until our next edition, happy upgrading!
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
