Memory Prices - Week of July 21, 2003 - Page 2By Vangie Beal July 22, 2003SDRAMThis week PC100 modules are moving up in price, with the increases ranging from $1 to $6. PC100 CAS2 128-MB and PC100 CAS2 ECC 128-MB are both up $2 while PC100 CAS3 256-MB rose $6 to $36. We don't have a single price drop on PC100 this week and PC133 modules don't look any better for the consumer. While a few modules remain unchanged in this section, we do see that PC133 CAS3 256-MB and PC133 CAS2 64-MB both jumped $4 to $35 and $27 respectively. It looks like SDRAM sets the pattern this week, as we also see DDR SDRAM prices up - however the increases are quite a bit larger. PC2100 128-MB and PC2100 256-MB both increased to $18 this week, and PC2100 512-MB made a big $15 jump to $65. PC2700 and PC3200 modules went up by increments ranging from $2 to $7. PC3200 256-MB is the only module to remain unchanged in price, while all others showed an increase. Those who had hoped to catch a break with RDRAM prices will have to hang in there another week. While we see mostly no change in RDRAM prices, we did catch one $10 increase on PC800 512-MB, now at $188. In surfing for the best prices on RDRAM this week, we noted that more and more modules (especially PC800 512-MB) are not automatically noted as being a single RIMM or pair of RIMMs, which is unfortunate as most prices on both are within a $20 to $25 price difference. Overall prices are up on both SDRAM and DDR SDRAM, with little change on RIMMs this week. When scouring the price circuit for the best price, be sure to check out both vendor and their shipping costs. Until next week, happy upgrading and please remember to read the 'fine print' before placing your memory order!
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
