Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of September 29, 2003 - Page 2By SharkyExtreme.com Staff October 2, 2003SDRAMPC133 SDRAM was a real mixed bag this week, with PC133 CAS3 128-MB and 512-MB dropping $5 and $2 respectively, while some other PC133 rose a buck or two. PC150 seems to be rising quite significantly, such as the $11 spike to PC150 256-MB, but this is due to fewer vendors carrying this SDRAM type, rather than a market shift towards higher prices. DDR was the least active of the three memory types, and the overall impact was virtually cancelled out by price increases and decreases in the $1 to $2 range. In terms of trends, PC3200 was the best off this week, with cuts to both 256-MB and 512-MB modules. Overall RDRAM prices are falling across the board, though the actual dollar amounts are nominal. Still, this is good news for RDRAM upgrades, as PC800 ECC 128-MB and PC1066 256-MB 232 pin RDRAM dropped $3, while PC800 ECC 256-MB was the big winner with a price cut of $6. This week in memory is another one for the "status quo" books, as only RDRAM showed a definite move toward lower prices, and even this trend didn't amount to high dollar cuts. The best way to save money may be to check out the vendor websites and see if you can nab a shipping deal, which may amount to a greater dollar savings than our price guide can offer.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
