Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of December 22, 2003 - Page 2By Vangie Beal December 23, 2003SDRAMThis week's PC133 prices remain quite stable, with the exception of a $7 increase on PC133 ECC 512-MB, now selling at $72. PC133 CAS2 256-MB is down by $2 while PC150 prices remain unchanged. Overall not a lot has changed on SDRAM prices, but this of course has been the trend here for several weeks. DDR SDRAM prices have shed a few dollars here and there, which is in contrast to our last guide where we charted a fair number of price increases. Most modules that dropped in price this week have only decreased a mere $1 or $2. PC2100 256-MB did drop $3 to $27, and our only increase of the week was $3 on PC3200 256-MB, which is now at $32. RDRAM prices are the most unstable of the bunch, with price drops and increases ranging from $2 to $6. PC800 128-MB is down $4 to 40, while PC800 256-MB went up $4 to $79. The biggest change comes in on PC800 ECC 256-MB. This week you'll pay $95; a $6 increase over our last price guide. As a friendly reminder, when looking for PC800 ECC 512-MB modules, be sure to read the fine print and make certain you're buying a single module not a "Total 512-MB" dual-256-MB pack. Unlike the brick and mortar stores, our online vendors don't seem to be too interested in cashing in on Christmas sales, at least when it comes to system memory. Prices for this week show very few discounts, but you can always save a dollar here and there by checking out the shipping fees on each vendor's website before making your online purchase. Hopefully you'll find that much wanted stick of memory under the tree this year, but if not we can all hope that '2004' will bring with it some lower prices. Happy Holidays!
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
