Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of April 12, 2004 - Page 2By Vangie Beal April 13, 2004SDRAMGoing into April, we see only a few price changes on SDRAM modules. Those looking for a PC133 CAS2 256-MB upgrade will save $2 this week, while anyone interested in PC133 ECC 512-MB modules will have to pony up $97 - an increase of $6. The other 512-MB module up in price is PC133 CAS3 512-MB which jumped $8 to $88. Overall, it's certainly not a good week for SDRAM upgrades. This week we're looking at quite a few significant price increases on DDR SDRAM, especially concerning PC3500, PC3700 and various 512-MB modules. PC3500 256-MB and 512-MB memory are up $10 and $13 respectively, and PC3700 256-MB jumped $11 to $73. Both PC2700 and PC3700 512-MB increased by $10, but surprisingly, PC2100 512-MB modules dropped by $3 this week. Overall DDR SDRAM prices have increased, and offer very little in the way of savings. RDRAM prices reflect the usual small price changes again this week. In light of rising prices elsewhere, this can certainly be considered a good thing. PC800 256-MB dropped $3 to $83, and a couple other modules have gone down in price by a dollar. This week we're seeing a trend of 512-MB modules rising in price, with DDR modules showing across the board increases. Hopefully you can hold off on any DDR upgrades for a bit while we wait and see if the prices move down again over the next month. Over the past few months, many vendors have started to offer free UPS ground shipping on online orders. Choosing an online vendor with low (or free) shipping rates is the best way you can save a few dollars this week, especially in light of the DDR price spikes. Until next time happy upgrading.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
