Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of April 26, 2004 - Page 2By Vangie Beal April 27, 2004SDRAMSDRAM prices, for the most part, remain in sync with what we saw in our last memory price update. PC133 ECC 512-MB shows a $2 savings while PC133 ECC 128-MB rose $3 to $35 this week. Most of you will have noticed a massive price hike on PC133 CAS2 256-MB memory, but this is due to only finding one vendor listed who is selling this memory. By our next update we'll hopefully be able to point you in the direction of a better price. While DDR SDRAM modules recently suffered a few large price increases, we see more favorable results this week. On the rise we have PC2700 128-MB increasing $4 to $28 and a couple of others are up by a slight $2 this week. Those looking to upgrade either PC3700 512-MB or PC2100 256-MB will save $3, and thrown in the mix are a couple more $1 and $2 savings on DDR SDRAM. Those who have held off on buying RDRAM for the past few weeks have lucked out. This week, most RIMMs are down in price, with a couple offering a very nice savings indeed. PC800 512MB (ECC and non ECC) dropped in price by $9 this week while PC800 ECC 256-MB can be had for $81, which is a $6 savings for consumers. Unfortunately PC800 128-MB and PC1066 256-MB modules are up in price a bit. A few welcome price breaks can be had this week, but of course it's totally dependant on the exact memory type you're looking for. RDRAM offers the best savings this week, and DDR SDRAM prices seemed to have settled a bit since our last memory price guide update. A great way to save money when buying memory from online vendors is to check out the vendor website and see if you can nab a shipping deal, which may amount to a greater dollar savings than our price guide can offer in the end. So until next time, happy upgrading.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
