Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of May 10, 2004 - Page 2By Vangie Beal May 11, 2004SDRAMFinally, we're seeing a bit more stability on SDRAM prices. Overall very few modules reflect a price change and those that did are providing consumers with a bit of a break. PC133 ECC 256-MB is down $2 while PC133 ECC 512-MB can be found for $89 - a $6 savings over our last charted price. The other SDRAM price change is a $5 drop on PC133 CAS2 256-MB. DDR SDRAM is a bit more inconsistent than SDRAM, and shows both price increases and decreases. PC4000 256-MB and PC2700 256-MB are dropping this week, and are down $2 and $3 respectively. PC4200 512-MB has the big savings of the week showing up at $185 which is an $11 price drop. On the rise is PC2100 512-MB, up $5 to $66, in addition to the few smaller $1 and $2 increases. Those hoping to catch a big break on RDRAM will have to wait and see what the next guide brings. This week we mark only a couple $1 to $3 changes, while PC800 256-MB is on the rise, jumping $3 to $85. This week in memory is another one for the "status quo" books, as most price changes were random, and this is no definite trend towards lower overall prices. The best way to save money may be to check out the vendor websites and see if you can nab a shipping deal, which may amount to a greater dollar savings than this week's price cuts can offer.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
