Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of August 30, 2004 - Page 2By Vangie Beal August 31, 2004SDRAMBringing August to an end, we have only a few small price drops to report on SDRAM modules. Those looking for PC133 CAS3 128-MB will save a measly dollar this week, but PC133 CAS3 512-MB did fall $4 to $101. This week there are no price increases, which is always good news for consumers. Much like SDRAM, we have a few small DDR SDRAM price drops with no increases this week. Unfortunately the price cuts we do see are small $1 and $2 drops, but in light of no increases, this can certainly be viewed as a positive thing. As for DDR2 prices, the only price change is a $2 decrease on DDR2 533 512-MB. While RDRAM price fluctuations remain in that popular $1 and $2 range, unlike our other modules, we do see a couple of price increases. The increases, however, are only $1 so in the end we can safely say RDRAM prices are pretty consistent with our last price update. Overall system memory prices have remained pretty much unchanged over the last two weeks. While most stores are touting "Back to School' savings like there's no tomorrow, our online vendors don't feel the need to cash in on those student shoppers. Consumers looking for a good deal this week are sure to be disappointed, but at least no one will be shelling out much extra for their memory upgrade. As always, be sure to read the fine print and shipping info on the individual vendor website before ordering, which may amount to a greater dollar savings than our price guide can offer. Until next week, happy upgrading.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
