Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of September 13, 2004 - Page 2By Vangie Beal September 13, 2004SDRAMThis week we clearly see an overall drop in PC133 memory prices. The PC133 CAS2 listings remain unchanged, but we do have price cuts ranging from $2 to $7 on most CAS3 and ECC memory. PC133 CAS3 256-MB is down $7 to $52 and we have a nice $6 price drop on PC133 CAS3 128-MB as well. We don't have any price changes on PC150 this week and the only SDRAM module to go up is PC133 CAS3 512-MB which rose $3 to $104 this week. The savings on DDR /DDR2 modules come down to your exact upgrade needs, since price changes hit mostly high-end modules this week. The PC2100 to PC3500 range stayed virtually unchanged this week. PC2100 512-MB dropped by a dollar and both PC3500 modules went up by the same amount. The biggest price change we see this week is a $7 drop on PC4200 256-MB, and both PC4000 modules dropped as well. DDR2 is also very stable, and the $1 cut to DDR2 533 256-MB is the only change on the list. RDRAM is a mixed bag of goodies for the week. While we only list eight modules in this category, this week's price fluctuations show a wider gap than any other memory type. PC800 ECC 256-MB and PC800 ECC 512-MB dropped by $4 each, while PC1066 256-MB (232 pin) jumped $11 to $113, and PC1066 256-MB (184 pin) is up $6 to $98. Unfortunately, savings are few and far between for those looking to upgrade RDRAM, especially on the PC800 side. Overall memory prices are quite stable, but unless you're looking for PC1066 256-MB, you won't pay much more this week either. If you're currently looking to upgrade your system memory or work on a second computer you just might end up saving a buck or two depending, on your exact memory needs. As always, be sure to read the fine print and shipping info on the individual vendor website before ordering, which may amount to a greater dollar savings than our price guide can offer. Until next week, happy upgrading.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
