Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of September 27, 2004 - Page 2By Vangie Beal September 28, 2004SDRAMOur SDRAM listings this week show more stability than we've seen in quite some time. With the exception of a $1 drop on PC133 ECC 512-MB, no other SDRAM module displayed any change in price. Following the stable price levels of SDRAM, there is very little to report in terms of DDR price changes. PC2100 256-MB is down $3 to $26, and PC4000 256-MB dropped in price as well, but only by a mere $2. The only increase on DDR memory is by a single dollar on PC3200 256-MB. DDR2 prices show a bit more movement. For the last two updates we've been reporting prices from vendors listed in PriceWatch but once again Crucial.com pricing has taken over. DDR2-533 256-MB stays the same at $80 through PriceWatch while the other three listings come in much cheaper via Crucial's website. DDR2-533 512-MB is down $20 to $160 and DDR2-667 256-MB is $5 cheaper at $120. DDR2-667 512-MB, which was previously listed at $239, is now $220. This is definitely good news for those keeping their eyes on DDR2 prices. RDRAM is another category where we see a bit of fluctuation this week. Half of the module prices are down by a dollar, while two remain unchanged in price. Those looking for a price break are sure to be pleased with the $5 drop on PC800 512-MB modules, and even more impressed with the $8 shaved off the price of PC1066 256-MB (184 pin), which is now selling for $90. This week the amount of money saved comes down to the exact memory type you need, as there is very little in the way of regular trends by type or speed. Both DDR2 and RDRAM offer the best deals this week while DDR and SDRAM prices are nothing out of the ordinary. The best way to save money could be to check out the vendor websites and see if you can nab a shipping deal, which may amount to a greater dollar savings than our price guide can offer. So until next week, happy upgrading!
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
