Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of November 22, 2004 - Page 2By Vangie Beal November 23, 2004SDRAMThis week the majority of SDRAM listings show no change in price, but for those that do reflect a change, we're happy to see these are decreases. Both PC133 CAS3 512-MB and PC133 CAS2 128-MB are down $5 this week, while PC133 CAS2 256-MB dropped $6 to $72. DDR price changes are few and far between this week. PC2100 modules remain unchanged in price, while the only shift on PC2700 memory is a $1 drop on PC2700 256-MB. Additionally we see PC3700 256-MB up $4 to $85 and PC4000 512-MB down $3 to $140. On DDR2, Crucial.com has dropped the price of DDR2-533 256-MB by $4 and DDR2-667 512-MB is down $6 to $170. We've also found an online vendor currently selling DDR2-533 512-MB for $130, which amounts to an $8 savings. RDRAM offers a couple of nice price drops for consumers this week. PC800 ECC 512-MB is down $7 to $182, and we also spotted a $5 price drop on PC1066 256-MB 232-pin. Unfortunately the price of PC1066 256-MB 184-pin is up $8 to $100 this week. In terms of sheer numbers, there were few memory modules that showed any price fluctuations this week. The good news, however, is that we're not seeing very much upward movement either, and a few of the price drops exceeded that magic $5 mark. Depending on your upgrading needs you may find yourself having to either shell out a couple dollars extra or you may be able to save up to $5. Be sure to thoroughly read the fine print on any vendor's Web site before making your purchase and don't forget to find out the shipping cost, which is not factored into our guide, before you buy. So until next time, happy upgrading.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
