Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of January 3, 2005 - Page 2By Vangie Beal January 4, 2005SDRAMHeading into 2005, those hoping for some lower prices on SDRAM are sure to be disappointed. The only price change on SDRAM this week is the small $2 price drop PC133 ECC 128-MB, now selling at $34. In the DDR section, we do see a small handful of price changes. PC2100 256-MB is down in price by $2 and PC3200 512-MB dropped $5 to $63. Additionally a $4 savings can be had on PC4200 256-MB and $1 was shaved off the price of PC4000 256-MB. Only one DDR module is up in price this week, and it is a mere $1 increase on PC3500 512-MB. DDR2 prices all show drops this week. Many vendors are listing these modules in PriceWatch now, and as a result, DDR2-533 256-MB was found for $65; a $7 savings over our last update. A healthy $9 was skimmed off the price of DDR2-533 512-MB, which is now at $127. Prices at Crucial.com are also down a bit this week; DDR2-667 256-MB can be had for $99 and DDR2-667 512-MB is down $18 to $152. Much like our SDRAM listings, RDRAM memory prices are quite stable, and again we find only one slight price drop. The price cut came in on PC800 512-MB which is selling for $175; a $3 decrease compared to our last update. Overall it doesn't seem like the concept of "after Christmas sales" has hit online memory vendors, and most of the listings reflect extremely stable prices this week. While a deal can be found here and there, depending on your exact upgrading needs, those looking for DDR or DDR2 memory will be the only ones hauling in the savings during the first week of 2005. As always, we remind you to take a good look at the consumer ratings of online vendors before making a purchase, and nabbing a good shipping deal might save you a few extra dollars as well. So until next time, happy upgrading.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
