The number of dual-channel DDR platforms continues to increase, and has really created a subset of the memory market. The "matched pair" format is becoming increasingly popular, as these DDR module kits are perfectly suited for the requirements of high-end dual-channel DDR operation, and are a much safer buy than purchasing one module now and hoping to match it up later. The most popular configurations are the 2x256-MB and 2x512-MB kits, and with few exceptions, vendors offer the same basic speeds in matched pair DDR kits, as with their single module DDR.
The high-end matched pair DDR listings were again more active than the single module chart, and we find several dual-channel kits with price cuts in the double-digit range. The big movers and shakers included OCZ PC3200 EL 2x512-MB (-$20), OCZ PC4200 EL 2x512-MB (-18), Crucial Ballistix PC4000 2x512-MB (-$12), and OCZ PC4000 EL 2x512-MB (-$12). In terms of overall dollars, the matched pair list showed almost three times the decrease that the single modules did, and there is again more variety in the DDR kits that received price cuts. There also doesn't seem to be any price spikes hitting the DDR market lately, and as with single modules, only a few matched pair kits saw any form of price increase.
