Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of March 28, 2005 - Page 2By Vangie Beal March 28, 2005SDRAMSDRAM prices remain virtually unchanged this week, with the exception of PC133 CAS3 256-MB and PC133 ECC 128-MB which are down by $1 and $2 respectively. Other than these two small price drops, the rest of our SDRAM price list is unchanged. DDR prices show a bit more movement this week, but we still find mostly small price fluctuations. Several modules have shifted (in either direction) by $1 or $2, but we do have a few price changes that are worth a mention. PC3500 256-MB and PC4200 512-MB are each down $5, to $35 and $184, respectively. We also have PC3500 512-MB and PC4000 512-MB both dropping by $4, bringing more savings for the consumer. On the rise this week we have PC2700 128-MB up $4 to $21 and PC4200 256-MB jumping $3 to $69. The DDR2 listings also displayed a few price drops, including a nice $9 cut to DDR2-533 512-MB. This week's RDRAM prices show very consistent drops with PC800 RDRAM, while PC1066 is quite stable. Both PC800 512-MB and PC800 ECC 512-MB are down in price by $8, and those looking for PC800 256-MB will shell out $73 this week, a $5 savings. The only module increasing in price this week is PC800 128-MB, which is up by $1 to $42. As always we remind you to read any PC800 512-MB listings carefully as some vendors will offer excellent prices on a dual-module kit, rather than a single stick of high-density memory. Overall this week we're seeing an increase in the total number of price fluctuations which thankfully, are mostly in the consumer's favor. Excellent deals can be found on both RDRAM memory and select DDR/DDR2 modules this week. Of course, your savings is determined by the exact type of memory you need, but a large number of price drops is certainly encouraging news for those looking to upgrade their system memory. If you're scouring the Internet for memory prices, it is a good idea to look for those reputable vendors who don't make money off shipping costs; remember this is a cost not factored into our guide and it will help keep your final purchase price low.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
