The number of dual-channel DDR platforms continues to increase, and has really created a subset of the memory market. The "matched pair" format is becoming increasingly popular, as these DDR module kits are perfectly suited for the requirements of high-end dual-channel DDR operation, and are a much safer buy than purchasing one module now and hoping to match it up later. The most popular configurations are the 2x256-MB and 2x512-MB kits, and with few exceptions, vendors offer the same basic speeds in matched pair DDR kits, as with their single module DDR.
High-end matched pair DDR again trumped the overall DDR listings, and almost tripled the overall price decrease of the single-module chart. The individual cuts were also in evidence, with larger price decreases hitting Corsair XMS PC3200LL 2x1-GB (-$54), Corsair XMS PC3200XL 2x512-MB (-$20), Crucial Ballistix TR PC4000 2x512-MB (-$20), Crucial Ballistix PC4000 2x1-GB (-$20), and OCZ PC3700 EL 2x256-MB (-$20). As you can see, the Corsair and Crucial brands received the lion's share of the price drops, and seven of the top ten price changes were for dual channel kits from these two companies. There was a nice mix of 2x512-MB and 2x1-GB modules listings showing price breaks, and only two matched pair listings with any sort of increases.
