Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of September 12, 2005 - Page 2By Vangie Beal September 12, 2005SDRAMThis week we see very little change on SDRAM prices. In fact a $1 drop on PC133 CAS3 128-MB is the only price difference to report this week, which of course lends itself to providing very little in the way of savings on SDRAM memory this week. Much like SDRAM prices, very little has changed on the DDR modules as well. All the PC2100, PC2700, PC3200, PC3500, and PC3700 modules remain unchanged in price this week. The good news is that the PC4000 and PC4200 listings do see a couple nice high dollar savings. Those looking for PC4000 512-MB are treated to a $13 savings, while PC4200 256M-MB is down $5 to $55 and PC4200 512M-MB is now selling for $120 - a $7 savings. DDR2 modules are also slow to move, with small $1 drops found on DDR2-533 512-MB and DDR2-667 512-MB modules. RDRAM follows suit with the rest of our guide this week, and offers only a few price shifts. We do have a $3 savings on PC800 ECC 512-MB, but PC1066 modules offer the largest movement in RDRAM for the week. PC1066 256MB (232pin) reflects a nice $10 savings as it is now listed at $92. Unfortunately, the only price increase in our guide this week is on PC1066 256MB (184pin), which jumped by $10. This has created a $20 gap between the PC1066 184-pin and 232-pin 256-MB modules we list. It is yet another week in system memory with very little price changes. While many modules remain unchanged in price this week, for those which did shift, we see only price drops - with the exception of the single $10 increase on PC1066 256MB (184pin). Depending on your exact purchase needs you may be able to take advantage of the $13 savings on PC4000 512-MB or one of three price drops on DDR2 modules. Of course, you can always check out individual vendor Web sites to see if you can nab a shipping deal, which may amount to a greater dollar savings than our price guide can offer. Until next time, happy upgrading.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
