The number of dual-channel DDR platforms continues to increase, and has really created a subset of the memory market. The "matched pair" format is becoming increasingly popular, as these DDR module kits are perfectly suited for the requirements of high-end dual-channel DDR operation, and are a much safer buy than purchasing one module now and hoping to match it up later. The most popular configurations are currently the 2x512-MB and 2x1-GB kits, and with few exceptions, vendors offer the same basic speeds in matched pair DDR kits, as with their single module DDR.
Surprisingly, the matched pair DDR chart showed a total price drop of only $34, which is less than the preceding single module DDR list, and might lead you to believe that dual channel DDR kit prices are even more sedate. Nothing could be further from the truth, as we found six double-digit price cuts, with OCZ PC4800 EL 2x512-MB (-$35), Kingston HyperX PC3700 2x512-MB (-$23, and OCZ PC4800 EL Platinum El. 2x512-MB (-$18) leading the way. The problem was the modules price increases to contend with, including three that registered at $20 or more. This resulted in a muted effect on overall chart prices, but there are definitely some deals if you shop around.
