Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of November 7, 2005 - Page 2By Vangie Beal November 7, 2005SDRAMThis week, price changes on SDRAM memory are still few are far between. Upgraders interested in PC133 CAS2 256-MB will save $4 this week, but those in the market for PC133 CAS3 512-MB would have pocketed $4 by buying last week. In addition to these changes, SDRAM prices only offer a dollar or two savings on a few modules, since overall price changes remain relatively small in this category. This week's DDR-SDRAM module prices offer consumers a couple nice breaks, and most surprisingly, on 512-MB modules. Starting with PC2700 512-MB, we see the price down by $4 to $39, and an even nicer $10 drop can be found on PC3500 512-MB, now selling under the hundred-dollar mark at $94. PC4000 512-MB also dropped down to $129, which is a decent $5 savings. We also see a few $1 price drops in the PC2100 and PC2700 listings. DDR2 prices remain largely unchanged, with the exception of a mere dollar savings on DDR2-533 512-MB. RDRAM prices, which rarely fluctuate very much in either direction, offer a couple of deals for those interested in upgrading. Both PC800 ECC 128-MB and PC800 ECC 512-MB offer $3 in savings and PC800 512-MB is down $5 to rest at $110 this week. Other RDRAM modules remain unchanged in price - as opposed to an unwelcome increase. It has been awhile but we finally see a price guide aimed at those looking to save money. This week the only price increases in the entire guide came in on PC133 CAS3 256-MB and PC133 CAS2 128-MB, which are up in price by $1 and $4 respectively. With a nice $10 drop on PC3500 512-MB and a good handful of modules down in price from $3 to $5, it's definitely going to provide incentive for close look, if not a few purchases this week. Online sales are ready to heat up for the holiday season, so now might be a good time to start planning your upgrade. Don't forget to keep a keen eye on shipping costs and start watching for a few holiday shipping deals, as this will lower the overall price you end up paying for your system memory.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
