Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of November 21, 2005 - Page 2By SharkyExtreme.com Staff November 22, 2005SDRAMThis week, we find the SDRAM market fairly stable, and very little in the way of significant price changes. Of course, the price shifts we do have are mostly in the consumer's favor, with the largest being a $4 cut to PC133 CAS3 512MB. This is also the week where we say good-bye to our PC150 listings, as these are virtually impossible to locate, and have virtually no impact on current SDRAM buyers. DDR and DDR2 prices are mostly stable, with the exception of the big $20 cut to PC4000 512MB. There are a few smaller price drops through the listings, but nothing out of the ordinary. As well as the usual price updates, our DDR and DDR2 lists also feature a few additions, such as the various 1GB DDR/DDR2 modules and a DDR2-800 512MB entry. This gives us a better overall view of the current memory market, as well as getting rid of the superfluous 128MB listings. This week's RDRAM module price list has more excitement than usual, but unfortunately, there are more price increases than decreases. PC1066 256MB 184pin jumped $12 to $104, while a selection of PC800 RDRAM increased anywhere from $2 to $5. Thankfully, there is a silver lining, as PC800 512MB fell by $13 and is now selling at under $100. Overall, this is another nice update for memory buyers, and we see more price decreases than increases, and other than RDRAM, this trend holds up through the individual memory types as well. This seems to be a good week for buying 512-MB DDR modules, and there is some movement on the DDR2-533 and DDR2-667 ends. Don't forget to keep an eye on your overall shipping costs and watch for holiday deals, as this is a smart way to lower the overall price you end up paying for your system memory.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
