Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of December 5, 2005 - Page 2By SharkyExtreme.com Staff December 5, 2005SDRAMThis week, we again see the SDRAM market showing very limited price drops, with overall stability in the PC133 price levels. The largest cut was $3 off PC133 CAS3 256MB, and there was a nice selection of $1 and $2 drops. There were also no price increases to report, and although it was nominal, the overall SDRAM chart dropped in the consumer's favor. This week we find DDR prices to be the most active of the bunch, with a nice set of noticeable price drops hitting the PC3700 to PC4000 range. Both PC3700 512MB and PC4000 512MB fell by $19, while PC4000 1GB dropped $17 and PC4000 256MB received a nice $10 cut. DDR2 memory was a lot more stable, and other than a couple of $1 and $3 price drops, there was not a lot of activity. This week's RDRAM price list is a mix of small price increases and decreases, but with no real trends. PC800 512MB and PC800 ECC 512MB both fell by $5, but PC800 ECC 256MB helped offset this with a $6 jump. Otherwise, it was a pretty sedate few weeks in the RDRAM market, especially in the PC1066 area. Overall, this week shows positive trends for memory buyers, especially on the DDR side, where we find a pile of double-digit price drops. The SDRAM, RDRAM and DDR2 segments are also moving down slowly, and we see more price decreases than increases, making it a pretty good week no matter your memory of choice. Don't forget to keep an eye on your overall shipping costs and watch for holiday deals, as this is a smart way to lower the overall price you end up paying for your system memory.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
