The number of dual-channel DDR platforms continues to increase, and has really created a different section of the memory market. The "matched pair" format is becoming increasingly popular, as these DDR module kits are perfectly suited for the requirements of high-end dual-channel DDR operation, and are a much safer buy than purchasing one module now and hoping to match it up later. The most popular configurations are currently the 2x512-MB and 2x1-GB kits, and with few exceptions, vendors offer the same basic speeds in matched pair DDR kits, as with their single module DDR.
The matched pair DDR chart is by far the most active part of the memory market, and there are plenty of deals to be had this week. Starting off at the top, Mushkin eXtreme PC4000 2x1-GB dropped $64, while Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC4000 2x1-GB and Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC4000 2x512-MB kits dropped by $52 and $43, respectively. That wasn't the end of it, and there are nine price cuts that hit double digits, while there was none on the plus side. This created a significant chart drop in the range of $318, which means the second update in a row where matched pair DDR showed a very healthy aggregate drop.
