Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of February 13, 2006 - Page 2By Vangie Beal February 13, 2006SDRAMThis week we see a little bit of movement on SDRAM prices, however the dollar amounts are still quite small. Both PC133 CAS3 128-MB and PC133 CAS3 512-MB are down by a buck, but unfortunately, those are our only price drops. On the rise is PC133 CAS2 256-MB, again only by a dollar, however we also see PC133 CAS2 128-MB jumping $3 to $49 for the week. This module charted at a slight increase as well last week, making it a total $5 increase over our last two reports. Other than that, the remainder of the SDRAM module listings remains unchanged in price. Keeping in tune with our last update, we see only a few minor price changes on DDR memory, and finding deals is a very tough job. PC3200 256-MB is down $2 to $21 this week and we see PC3500 512-MB at $76 - offering consumers a $5 savings. While DDR savings are slim this week, the good news is that only a few memory modules have gone up in price. PC4200 256-MB increased $3 to $46 while PC3200 512-MB is up by only $1. Keeping with the trend, DDR2 prices also remain quite stable. A couple of modules are up in price by $1, and DDR2-667 256-MB jumped $3 to $58. In terms of actual savings this week, the only module that dropped in price was DDR2-667 1-GB, which showed a $2 decrease and is now selling for $78. A quick glance at the RDRAM section shows yet another week of the status quo. Memory prices here remain unchanged, with the exception of three modules, which dropped in price by a single dollar. This is a bit of a change, and after a few weeks of RDRAM lead the price change list, it seems to have settled for a bit. Overall, it's another stable week as far as system memory prices go. We do see a total of eight modules showing some form of price decrease, but the combined dollar amount is only $14, so the savings really are slim this week. The overall price increases amount to less than $14 as well, so I guess one could say prices are slightly in the consumer's favor this week. Our top price decrease comes in on the PC3500 512-MB, which offers a $5 savings. Don't forget to keep an eye on your overall shipping costs when looking to buy online as this is a smart way to lower the overall price you end up paying for your system memory.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
