The number of dual-channel DDR platforms continues to increase, and has really created a different section of the memory market. The "matched pair" format is becoming increasingly popular, as these DDR module kits are perfectly suited for the requirements of high-end dual-channel DDR operation, and are a much safer buy than purchasing one module now and hoping to match it up later. The most popular configurations are currently the 2x512-MB and 2x1-GB kits, and with few exceptions, vendors offer the same basic speeds in matched pair DDR kits, as with their single module DDR.
The matched pair DDR chart again displayed more activity than the single module listings, although the aggregate chart decrease was a bit light at only -$99. This placed it second on the list in terms of overall activity, led by $21 cuts to both Kingston HyperX PC3200 2x1-GB and OCZ PC3200 Platinum 2x1-GB, with Mushkin PC3200 2x1-GB (-$12), Corsair XMS PC3200LL 2x1-GB (-$10), and Kingston HyperX PC4300 2x512-MB (-$10) rounding out the double-digit price drops. There were only two similar price increases to report, as Crucial Ballistix PC4000 2x1-GB and OCZ PC4800 EL Platinum Elite 2x512-MB jumped by $10 and $12, respectively.
* There is also a $40 rebate (good until February 28 with qualified retailers) on the Corsair XMS PC3200LL 2x1-GB kit, resulting in a $180 end price, which is a very good deal for those looking at another 2-GB of low latency PC3200.
