The number of dual-channel DDR platforms continues to increase, and has really created a different section of the memory market. The "matched pair" format is becoming increasingly popular, as these DDR module kits are perfectly suited for the requirements of high-end dual-channel DDR operation, and are a much safer buy than purchasing one module now and hoping to match it up later. The most popular configurations are currently the 2x512-MB and 2x1-GB kits, and with few exceptions, vendors offer the same basic speeds in matched pair DDR kits, as with their single module DDR.
The matched pair DDR chart not only displayed more activity than the single module listings, but also was also the most active part of the entire guide. In terms of aggregate chart movement, a -$200 drop is certainly nothing to scoff at, and there was a wide selection of individual cuts. We charted a whopping nine double-digit price drops, including OCZ PC3200 Titanium 2x1-GB (-$50), Mushkin eXtreme PC4000LL 2x1-GB (-$30) and OCZ PC3200 EL 2x1-GB (-$27) at the top of the list. On the other side, none of the price increases reached double digits, and the highest was a $7 jump to the cost of Geil Ultra Platinum PC4000 2x512-MB - not exactly earth-shattering.
