Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of March 27, 2006 - Page 2By Vangie Beal March 27, 2006SDRAMFollowing a similar trend with our last few Memory Price Guides, we again see very little activity in the SDRAM section of our price list. While we find two price changes of +$1 and -$1 each, there is a single $3 drop on PC133 CAS3 512-MB, which is now selling for $73. While this may seem like a small change, when compared to the selling price of $94 that PC133 CAS3 512-MB was at one year ago today, we see that these "small drops" can really add up. This week, the majority of DDR SDRAM prices remain unchanged in price, but there are a few small fluctuations. We do see the entire PC2700 selection down in price by $1, joined by a couple of PC2100 and PC3200 modules as well. In terms of savings, that is all the DDR listings have to offer this week. PC2100 256-MB rises by a buck, and there was a $4 increase on PC3200 1-GB, which now sits at $85. DDR2 prices also remain stable, showing only two single dollar increases, and a $2 decrease on DDR2-800 512-MB. Stagnant or stable, it all depends on your point of view, as both terms describe RDRAM memory prices this week. This week we have a single price change to report and that is only a small $1 increase on the price of PC800 128-MB. This is bad news for those who are waiting for a good price to upgrade, but good news for anyone needing an "emergency" RDRAM replacement this week. This week in system memory is another one for the "status quo" books, as our guide mainly shows only nominal shifts, or no price change whatsoever. Where we do see price changes this week, didn't amount to high dollar cuts. As we head into Spring, the best way to save money this week, may be to check out individual vendor Web sites and see if you can nab a shipping deal, which may amount to a greater dollar savings than our price guide can offer.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
