Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of April 10, 2006 - Page 2By Vangie Beal April 10, 2006SDRAMCompared to our last report, we're seeing few price changes, however these amount to higher dollar values and an overall increase. PC133 CAS2 256-MB jumped $5 to $54 and we have PC133 ECC 256-MB up in price by $4. PC133 CAS3 512-MB increased by $2 and the only price drop in sight this week is a small $1 decrease to PC133 ECC 512-MB. Very little has changed over the past couple weeks on the DDR price list. Most modules reflect only small $1 price changes, with this week showing mainly $1 decreases. The biggest change is, unfortunately, not in favor of the consumer, as PC4000 1-GB is up $10 to $131. PC2100 512-MB posted the largest DDR cut, as this module fell by $3. Three is also the magic number on DDR2 prices this week, as we see a trio of modules up in price by $3; DDR2-667 512-MB, DDR2-667 1-GB, and DDR2-800 1-GB. The only DDR2 price drop is a $1 cut to DDR2-533 512-MB. RDRAM is a mixed bag this week, providing a wider selection of price changes. PC800 512-MB jumped $8 to $130, while PC800 256-MB is up $2. Thankfully, that is it for our list of RDRAM price increases for this week. Showing lower prices, we have PC1066 256-MB (184pin) at $104, which is a $6 savings over our last guide. A few modules get a slim $1 price shave, while PC800 ECC 256-MB is down by $2 this week. Overall, we're seeing a bit more price movement than we have over the past couple months, but unfortunately many of the larger fluctuations come in the form of a price increase. While this week's guide provides the usual plethora of small $1 and $2 price changes, a few modules, such as PC4000 1-GB with its $10 increase and PC800 512-MB showing up at $8 higher this week, will have consumers possibly digging a little deeper into the pocket for that memory upgrade. While online shipping deals can often provide a savings incentive, it also never hurts to check with local franchise shops to see if they are willing to come close or price match Internet prices, giving you, the consumer, a better deal overall.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
