Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of April 24, 2006 - Page 2By Vangie Beal April 24, 2006SDRAMUnlike our last price update for SDRAM, this week provides multiple, albeit small, price changes for the consumer to consider. Our price increases come in as a small dollar change on both PC133 ECC 512-MB and PC133 CAS2 256-MB. Two dollar savings can be had on PC133 ECC 256-MB and PC133 CAS3 128-MB this week, and those with their eye on the price of PC133 CAS3 256-MB or PC133 CAS2 512-MB are sure to be pleased with the respective $4 and $6 price drops here. DDR price drops have just about hit a standstill this week. The only DDR price decrease is a single dollar drop on PC3200 256-MB. PC3500 512MB is up $6 to $82 this week, while PC4000 1-GB is also up in price by $4. We have a smaller $2 increase on PC4200 256-MB as well. While our last guide showed a few DDR2 modules rising in price by $3, this week we have DDR2-533 256-MB and DDR2-667 512-MB back down in price by $2. There is also a $2 increase on DDR2-800 512-MB, which now sits at $80. Anyone who has been watching the ever-changing price of RDRAM is sure to be pleased with a few of the price drops we see this week. Those interested in PC800 ECC 256-MB will save a few dollars, but the larger price drops come in on PC1066 this week. PC1066 256-MB (232pin) is down by $3, a $5 savings can be had on PC1066 256-MB (184pin), and the price of PC1066 512-MB (184pin) dropped $9 to sit at $206. This week, consumers are finally being treated to a few price drops that fall into the "over $5" category; but unfortunately, most of the bigger savings can be found on RDRAM. SDRAM is slow to change again this week, and overall DDR / DDR2 memory prices are up a bit this week. While savings on the actual memory cost can help consumers, Internet shoppers would do well to look for a shipping deal or work out a purchase with a friend, as shipping discounts are often given based on a total purchase amount.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
