The number of dual-channel DDR platforms continues to increase, and has really created a different section of the memory market. The "matched pair" format is becoming increasingly popular, as these DDR module kits are perfectly suited for the requirements of high-end dual-channel DDR operation, and are a much safer buy than purchasing one module now and hoping to match it up later. The most popular configurations are currently the 2x512-MB and 2x1-GB kits, and with few exceptions, vendors offer the same basic speeds in matched pair DDR kits, as with their single module DDR.
Since the single module DDR listings were very stable this week, we assumed the worst for dual channel DDR... and were pleasantly surprised with what we found. This chart is the hub of activity this week, and we not only have a very large aggregate chart drop of $180, but also a few very nice individual price drops. Patriot PC4400 2x512-MB fell by $69, while PNY PC4400 2x512-MB dropped $45, and gigaram Mach 1000 PC3200 2.0 2x1-GB received a $35 price cut. One interesting similarity between these three listings is that each is the recipient of a very healthy price drop from Newegg, which currently has some very nice sale prices. On the other end of the scale, there is only a single price increase that hit above $6, and Corsair XPERT PC3200 2x512-MB jumped $12 to $176 this week.
