Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of May 8, 2006 - Page 2By Vince Freeman May 8, 2006SDRAMThis week's SDRAM chart remains stable with only a few price changes. The good news is that the price shifts are all in the consumer's favor this week. PC133 CAS3 128-MB and PC133 CAS2 512-MB dropped $1 and $2 respectively, while a nice $5 price drop hit PC133 ECC 512-MB, which is now selling for $55. Much like the SDRAM price levels, we see only a bit of movement on DDR and DDR2 prices starting off the week. We have several modules down by a dollar in price, and both PC2100 256-MB and PC4200 256-MB dropped by $2. While that is all we have in terms of price drops this week, the good news is that price increases are limited as well. Our only increases come in on PC4000 1-GB and DDR2-667 512-MB, which are both up by $2 this week. Those who have been keeping their eyes on RDRAM and waiting for a good deal may just have to keep one eye open until our next Memory Price Guide. While no price increases is good news, price drops aren't exactly breaking any records either, and the only cut is a $2 savings on PC800 512-MB and PC800 ECC 512-MB. Spring really hasn't provided many deals for those looking to upgrade their system memory, but thankfully, we aren't seeing any major price increases either. The best deal we could spot this week was a $5 savings on PC133 ECC 512-MB, while the largest price increases checked in at only $2, which is actually not too bad for consumers. As always, don't forget to keep an eye on your overall shipping costs when looking to buy online as this is a smart way to save a few hard-earned bucks. If vendors offer free shipping based on a total sale price, you also might want to find an upgrade buddy to share the shipping expenses.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
