Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of June 5, 2006 - Page 2By Vangie Beal June 5, 2006SDRAMFor the fourth week in a row, SDRAM prices haven't moved a whole lot in either direction. The good news is that there is not a single SDRAM price increase to report - but in leveling the playing field, the price drops we see are all but invisible. Both PC133 ECC 512-MB and PC133 CAS3 128-MB have a dollar shaved off their price this week, while a $2 drop was found on the price of PC133 ECC 256-MB, which is now selling for $32. While our last guide showed several DDR modules up in price, we see hardly any DDR price changes this week. Those in the market for PC2700 512-MB will only have to shell out an extra dollar, but if PC4000 512-MB is what you're looking for, this week's price tag is $105 - which is a $5 savings over our last report. While those two modules represent the only DDR price changes spotted this week, DDR2 memory is just as stable. Two modules are down by $1 this week and DDR2-800 1-GB dropped by $2 to $117 for the start of June. In our last guide, we noted fluctuations in both directions on RDRAM, but this week we only have price cuts to report. Unfortunately, the four modules that decreased in price this week only dropped by a single dollar each. If the lucky Dad on your list was going to be on the receiving end of system memory this year, those doing the buying aren't going to find much for Father's Day deals this week. The $5 price drop on PC4000 512-MB represents our largest dollar price change, and only a few scattered $1 and $2 drops show the story of limited savings this week. If your memory purchase is of the urgent replacement variety however, the good news is that a single dollar increase, compared to our last Memory Price Guide is all you'll have to pay. Don't forget to keep an eye on your overall shipping costs when placing an online order as this is a smart way to lower the overall price you end up paying for your system memory.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
