Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of June 19, 2006 - Page 2By Vangie Beal June 19, 2006SDRAMFollowing a month of stagnant SDRAM prices, we're starting to see some warmer prices move in this week. Both PC133 ECC 256-MB and PC133 ECC 512-MB are down $4, to $28 and $50 respectively. We also have five modules with a $1 savings on them as well, and none of the listed SDRAM modules increased in price this week. DDR memory seems to be taking the same route we've been seeing with SDRAM over the last little while, and this week we have only a single $1 decrease to report on the price of PC4200 256-MB. In terms of DDR2 prices, we again see very small fluctuations. Both DDR2-533 256-MB and DDR2-800 1-GB have dropped in price by $2, and those three small price drops represent the only changes on our DDR/DDR2 memory listings. This week, RDRAM shows some movement and price changes come on both the positive and negative sides. Those looking for PC800 128-MB or PC800 256-MB will save a dollar, while the price of PC1066 256-MB (232 pin) is down $2 to $57. Countering this $2 drop is a $2 increase on PC1066 512-MB (184 pin). It is another week without any significant price increases on system memory, which is good news for consumers. The drawback is that we also don't have any large price drops to offer consumers any extra incentive to purchase or upgrade memory this week. While savings on an actual module can help consumers, Internet shoppers would do well to look for a shipping deal or work out a purchase with a friend as shipping discounts are often given based on a total purchase amount.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
