Memory Pricing Guide |
Memory Prices - Week of November 6, 2006 - Page 2By Vangie Beal November 6, 2006SDRAMFollowing a similar pricing trend to our last guide, we see mostly lower prices on SDRAM memory again this week. While the dollar amounts are small, price drops do make up the bulk of the SDRAM changes. This week sees a few modules down in price by one dollar, followed by PC133 CAS3 128-MB and PC133 CAS2 128-MB dropping by $2. A $3 savings can be found on both PC133 ECC 128-MB and PC133 CAS2 512-MB, while the price of PC133 CAS2 256-MB dropped by $5 to $39 this week. We do see a couple of price drops on DDR memory this week, combined with some price increases, unfortunately. PC2700 512-MB is down $3 to $47, while PC3200 1-GB and PC3500 512-MB are up $3 each to $92 and $105, respectively. PC2700 512-MB dropped $3 to $47, while PC3200 1-GB and PC3500 512-MB are up $3 each to $92 and $105 respectively. Other price fluctuations include a $2 savings on PC4000 256-MB and a pair of DDR modules increasing by $1. DDR2 prices don't look much better this week. Other than a few modules that have changed by one dollar, the only other price change is a $2 savings on DDR2-533 1-GB, which is now selling for $92. RDRAM savings are dependant on the specific type, size and speed of memory you're in the market for. The price of PC800 512-MB is down $6 to $94 this week, however those looking for PC1066 256-MB 184pin will need to pay $89, an increase of $5. Other price changes on RDRAM memory include a $2 savings on PC800 ECC 512-MB and a $2 increase on the price of PC800 ECC 256-MB. This week we spotted a couple of price breaks that hit the $5 and over mark, including $5 off PC133 CAS2 256-MB and a $6 savings on PC800 512-MB. SDRAM prices were consistently down, while the remainder of the chart was more a mix of nominal drops and consistent price levels. For the most part, this week showed mainly small $1 and $2 price cuts for consumers, making it even more important for deal hunters to look carefully for a good shipping deal from online vendors.
We'd like to take this opportunity to assure you that SharkyExtreme has no affiliation with any vendor listed in our guide, but our memory price charts do take more than just the basic dollar amount into consideration. Here are just a few examples to highlight some of the many things we keep in mind when compiling a price guide - which may translate into the price you see in our guide being different than one you find:
Since we don't have a direct line to every vendor doing business online, so if you know of a company selling quality products at decent prices that isn't making our price guide, feel free to drop us a line with the vendors URL, so we can check them out as well! Feedback (of any kind) on the Weekly Memory Prices is always read and appreciated! Until next week - happy upgrading!
