As with the DDR listings, we are including a separate chart outlining the price of dual channel DDR2 memory kits. We are also concentrating mainly on DDR2-667, DDR2-800 and DDR2-1000 modules, along with top-end DDR2-1066 and higher models, the number of which is continuing to grow. Now that AMD has jumped on board, DDR2 has moved well beyond the niche market stage, and has now become the de facto memory standard for any new system purchase. There is currently a wide selection of matched pair DDR2 kits, including both 2x512-MB and 2x1-GB configurations, as well as 2x2-GB enthusiast-level kits that are starting to emerge, and specialized kits like the Corsair Dominator and OCZ FlexXLC.
As usual, the matched pair DDR2 chart is the Wild West of the system memory listings, and it supplies us with a dizzying amount of price increases and decreases. We definitely saved the best for last, and the matched pair DDR2 was by far the most active of the bunch - posting an absolutely insane aggregate chart drop of over $800. The individual price cuts came on heavy, with twenty-five hitting double-digits, and just under 70% of the matched pair DDR2 entries showing a lower price. There were some very deep cuts, including Geil DDR2-1000 Ultra 2x1-GB (-$121), Crucial Ballistix DDR2-1000 2x512-MB (-$70), and Corsair XMS2 DDR2-667 2x1-GB (-$57). Usually, there is a smattering of significant price increases to contend with, but surprisingly, there was only a single price spike this week, and it was only $2.
