As with the DDR listings, we are including a separate chart outlining the price of dual channel DDR2 memory kits. We are also concentrating mainly on DDR2-667, DDR2-800 and DDR2-1000 modules, along with top-end DDR2-1066 and higher models, the number of which is continuing to grow. Now that AMD has jumped on board, DDR2 has moved well beyond the niche market stage, and has now become the de facto memory standard for any new system purchase. There is currently a wide selection of matched pair DDR2 kits, including both 2x512-MB and 2x1-GB configurations, as well as 2x2-GB enthusiast-level kits that are starting to emerge, and specialized kits like the Corsair Dominator and OCZ FlexXLC.
The dual channel DDR2 chart is again looking like the Wild West of the system memory listings, but it still can't approach the pure insanity of our last update. An aggregate chart drop of over $1,200 doesn't come along every week, but we still managed to find a total decrease of $549 this time. Shaving almost $550 off the listings is nothing to sneeze at, and naturally there were some large individual cuts, such as Crucial Ballistix DDR2-667 2x1-GB (-$88), Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800 2x1-GB (-$54) and OCZ DDR2-667 Platinum 2x1-GB (-$52) matched pairs. There were seventeen double-digit price drops, while a lone price increase stood out from the price decreases, as Kingston HyperX DDR2-1000 2x1-GB jumped by $21.
