As with the DDR listings, we are including a separate chart outlining the price of dual channel DDR2 memory kits. We are also concentrating mainly on DDR2-667, DDR2-800, DDR2-1000 and DDR2-1066 modules, along with top-end DDR2-1100/1150/1200/1250 and higher models, the number of which is continuing to grow. Now that AMD has jumped on board, DDR2 has moved well beyond the niche market stage, and has now become the de facto memory standard for any new system purchase. There is currently a wide selection of matched pair DDR2 kits, including both 2x512-MB and 2x1-GB configurations, as well as 2x2-GB enthusiast-level kits that are starting to emerge, and specialized kits like the Corsair Dominator and OCZ FlexXLC.
As usual, our dual channel DDR2 chart is where the real action is taking place, and is reminiscent of a "wild west" environment of constant price battles. The fourteen double-digit price cuts and an aggregate chart drop of $489 are both very impressive, but also keep in mind that the last two chart drops totaled $549 and $1,200, respectively. Some of this week's larger individual drops included the pqi TURBO DDR2-800 2x1-GB (-$75), Kingston HyperX DDR2-1000 2x1-GB (-$47), OCZ DDR2-1000 Plat 2x1-GB (-$38), and Corsair XMS2 DDR2-1066 2x1-GB (-$37) dual channel DDR2 kits. And amazingly, there not a single price increase to be found, although we added in a few DDR2 modules in the 1111-1250 MHz range.
